There's this awesome show called "MythBusters" and they tested this theory out-- it is true, using the AC kills fuel economy when compared to just having the windows down.
Two SUVs were used; exact same specs, model, everything... Same exact amount of fuel put in and one driver blasted the AC the whole time while the other drove w/ the windows down. They drove around and around an open race track. Although the data was screwy nobody could deny the truth because the AC using SUV rolled to a standstill over a half an hour before the windows-down SUV did.
I saw that one. Jamie sure was cold by the end!
But I don't think they were as thorough as they should have been to definitively answer that question. They left out the speed variable, and they only tested it on an SUV.
The reason I think it makes a difference is that when my wife's turns the AC on in her Civic with it's ~120 HP there is a noticeable drop in available power. If you really want to accelerate in that car you turn off the AC until you hit cruising speeds again. But in my truck with ~200 HP there is no noticeable drop in power. Thus I speculate that the effect of the AC might just be more pronounced on the smaller car because it takes roughly the same amount of power away from an engine to turn an AC compressor regardless of engine size.
Who knows, that might just make the Mythbuster's proof that much more positive. But her car is also vastly more aerodynamically superior, so an open window might affect it more...
I just don't know. I think you'd have to do some pretty extensive testing to say definitively.

My friend got the white iPhone 4 on Friday, and the touch screen isn't operating properly. If she takes it to the Apple Store, and they need to replace her phone, will they give her a white one? Just curious, because I don't know if they have any refurb white iPhones yet.

It's been down for a while. I went there a couple of weeks ago to check the specs on a friend's G3 iMac... it must be frustrating having a site so successful that it needs to be shut down.
Let's hope that never happens here.

I synced up my iCal with Google Calendar, but now my subscription calendar of a sports team is not showing up on my LockInfo.
Everything else is showing up but that one calendar.
What could be the problem?
Thanks.
Did you add the Calendar in the LockInfo settings?

Cool, so the answer is 'probably'. :) I'd be interested to know if anyone who has one can verify.

Not exactly but several friends/family members have spent amounts totalling hundreds or thousands of pounds on Apple computers based on my experiences and recommendations.
They all still talk to me so I can`t have steered them too far wrong.
Just waiting for my commission from Apple ;)

Create a second user account on the PS3, and set the region as the one you want to get items from. That way, when you go to the PSN Store, it will show the items for that region.
I did this very thing when the Killzone 2 demo came out. It was only available in Europe, UK, etc. I just made another user, set the region to "Ireland" and downloaded away. Granted, this was a demo, not a purchase, but I wouldn't think it would be any different.

I'm sure all the 'eagle eyed' amongst us have seen the FCC disclaimer on the bottom of the apple iPhone page but I wonder if the unit has FCC clearance to be used? (Steve 'appeared' to demo the unit as part of his Keynote address)
Just a thought...

Great. But I care about 1 thing: fix the Spaces issues.
The Office applications (both 2004 and 2008) are the single WORST performing applications I have ever used on a Mac.
Seriously, for a company with the resources that Microsoft has, is it really too much to ask for spaces to work properly? Every other app works with spaces without a glitch, why doesn't office?
Switch to another application in spaces and go back to the previous office document: document moves to god knows which space. Same with the toolbox: have it open and who knows what might happen.
Will this ever get addressed?
Sadly probably not. Have you been able to test the Office 2011 Beta? Supposedly MS is focussing on making Office 2011 more like a native OS X Cocoa app. I'll have to try my copy of the beta in VMWare workstation to see if spaces works any better.

I've recently installed an SSL. All browsers on Mac and windows works fine. Also, Opera works great on the iPhone. When I visit the site on Safari on the iPhone or iPad, I get the SSL error "cannot verify server identity." I'm not finding any solutions to the issue. I've also verified everything on http://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html
I have other sites with SSLs that work fine on the same server. The SSL issuer is also the same. I just don't get it.
Has anyone ever had this issue or knows how to resolve it?
Thanks everyone.

Probably that crazy guy who sold an iPhone for $120.
Heh, I actually didn't care who the celebrity was. Just felt like posting on a thread that was already sold, plus notified mods to lock it but mods are apparently too busy to respond .

Dont post a photo and expect all praise ;) If you cant take criticism, don't post.
I like the photo - its good. However as others have pointed out, the graining devalues it (IMO) and makes the picture look amateurish. I can see where you were going though and like it.
Trying to tell me what the ambient light was like without having ever been there isn't criticism.
You made a thread just to show off this one photo! Please don't expect everybody to be gushing, "Ohhh my, how lovely." I wasn't trying to attack you or anything, and I'm not trying to say that you don't know what you're doing; I'm just saying that I think the photo could've been taken differently, and I'd like it all the more for that. I'm not even much of a photographer myself, you probably know more than I do. I was just giving my two cents. If you don't agree with me, that's fine, but there's no need to be so sour about it.
Ambient light is not a matter of opinion, it's fact... If I had shot this at ISO400 I would've had an exposure of about 1/2 a second, and the photo would be absolutely ruined by camera shake. Come on now. I don't expect people to comment saying "oh how lovely" etc., notice how I haven't even responded to any criticism (or comments for that matter) until you came in with your asinine ideas about exposure. Probably should learn a bit about photography before you try to tell experienced photographers that they're doing it wrong (when it comes to something as simple as exposure), people might take you more seriously. Anyone who knows anything about exposure will tell you that bumping down to 400 from 3200 is reducing your amount of light by TWO stops...

I would wait for newer games to come out that use the video memory and certainly upgrade to something more than 32MB of ram. Especially if you are like me and want to play your games in the default resolution for your monitor of 1280x1024x32. Hope that helps.
Whether or not a game is CPU dependent is not based on the Apple at all but totally based on the software developer and how the create the game. Unreal Tournament is a perfect example of a CPU dependent game and it is CPU dependant on the Mac and the PC.

I have a GeForce 4 MX, by default, and the 4MX has 64 MB RAM not 32 as stated above. For the latest games its quite good:
Warcraft3: 1280 res all details: great!
UT: even 1600 res all details is still cool, but resolution overkill IMHO
Q3: 1280 all details: couldnt be much better
Black&White: 1024 all details: does its job really good. Dont know if UT2003 will still be good with that card, but it should.
Yeah, the PC has games as dogs have fleas, but to the Mac come only the cream of the crop games
I dont even miss CS...!
The original GF4MX that came on the mac was 64MB the one currently shipping in the new DDR Macs is 32MB.
I don't feel this is a great loss for this card because it has no hardware T&L. Also on the new DDR macs the card can access the ram in the machine at full speed bypassing the bus in what Apple calls DMA or Direct Memmory Access. This in a since gives the G4MX as much ram as the system can give at nearly the same speed as it's on board memory.
I know my Dual/Ghz/DDR machine with a Gig of ram and the G4MX has no problems with any game I run on it at 1280x1024 max everything. It runs between 60-80FPS with those settings in heavy action.
