Did you reformat the drive with Apple Partition map?
Nope I just used the disks that came with the laptop.
Apple Partition map is that something you can download?

Apparently (as my thread was moved from general to wasteland in 3 seconds) polling people is against some rule.
I honestly want to know/need to know that I'm not singled out. It would bring me a lot of closure to know that other people get infractions too.

You're so sick bro'.
Wish I was cool and could claim to have seen it before everyone, 'cause everyone knows seeing it first makes it funnier.
I'm actually in quite good health. Thank you for asking. It's rare to see that type of personal courtesy on an internet forum.

"A 20% increase in CPU speed is not very significant at all. I would bet a vast majority of users aren't going to notice any difference."
True.
"We recently upgraded one of our labs at school from PIII 500MHz to P4 2.53 GHz and what is that a ~82% increase in speed? "
False. It's more like a 400% increase in CPU speed. In my experience this difference is extremely perceptible. I have a 400Mhz PIII notebook and a 2.2Ghz desktop and the desktop is easily and very noticeably snappier in just about all tasks.

ill probably upgrade at the next case overhaul. i just hope my mid'10 is worth some decent money then, so i dont have to spend that much out of pocket.
it will always be worth more just before a refresh... if you wait until a redesign is released your machine becomes less desirable and less valuable.

Why should the Bioshock moniker be connected to Andrew Ryan or Rapture? It is more connected to the plasmids.
To me, the all-encompassing theme of both original BioShock games is the world of Rapture, in which the plasmids are only a small part as a whole. You have Ryan, Rapture, Big Daddies, Little Sisters, Splicers, Tennenbaum, etc. All of the "BioShock" games had all of those things in common, not just plasmids. And really, going by the lore in the game, the plasmids themselves were engineered by Ryan Industries, thus connecting him just as much as the plasmids themselves.
Think of it like Halo. The Halo games aren't just the story of Master Chief. They are the story of the Forerunners, the Covenant, ONI and the UNSC, the Flood, the Spartan program, the Halo rings, etc. So while Chief, like the plasmids, plays a large role in a few of the games and books, he isn't all that the entire story and its lore is all about.
Which is why, to me, I hope there is some connection to those original games and their world, and not just a name. If it turns out that putting "BioShock" in the name of a game and using plasmid-type mechanics ends up being like putting the "Final Fantasy" name and RPG elements in a game, I will be very sad.

You can still add Keywords easily to photos or groups of photos same as you could in older versions of iPhoto if you open the Keyword manager first (command+k). Select the photo or a group of photos and click on the Keyword from the list of Keywords. Another way is to put a check mark next to Keywords under the View menu and then use the show "Info" button at the bottom of iPhoto, this will let you select photos and type in a Keyword where it says "Add a keyword...."

I work in IT support and we are currently planning to deploy a few macs to our design unit. I would like to prevent them from using iPods and iPhones on their work PCs since we would like to hold them to the same standards that we have for windows PC users.
Is there a way to configure the macs so that ipods and iphones are not recognized in iTunes?
Thanks

yeah $1500 is right. i think that someone will crack and have to buy it.
Good luck selling it for that price. I've got a premium unit (with Kameo, extra wireless controller, charge kit) listed at BIN $999 and have gotten little interest. I've even offered to ship it for free. I am hoping I can sell it for that price, otherwise I may just have to actually keep it, or god forbid give it to my dad for xmas. :p Good luck with selling yours.

Sell it to me.
I'm selling an XBox over in the Marketplace forum, complete with keyboard/mouse adaptor, two wireless controllers, a wired controller, and a USB cable so you can mod the thing if that's what you want! Plus standard and component cabling. How can you go wrong?

This thread may seem pointless at first, as there is no built-in preference pane that allows to change the boot screen. However, a developper has made the BootXChanger (http://namedfork.net/bootxchanger) app, which allows for easy customization of both the image and the background color shown when booting.

Here is mine, Aqua Blue with a custom "Happy MacBook Pro" icon I just made. Looks very much like it did 10 years ago, when Mac OS 8.6 was the best around.:)
EDIT: obviously posting a screenshot will require some basic photo editing work, but nothing too much for most.
I have included this icon and others I made (except the Happy Mac which I only enlarged).

I and others who have had this symptom on the 3G iPhone, did a set up as new phone with iOS 4.1 and since have no problems. You will want to save any pics on the camera roll.
4.1 ain't out yet, so no use telling me that.

Quick question about the Switcheasy Rebel Touch case:
Will this fit a 3G Touch? I suppose it does, since I've been reading some of the comments on the forum, but the website only lists cases for a 2G touch. Just wanted to make sure before I order one...
Also: how well does the little cover for the dock port hold up? That's always been a problem with the cases I had, since I usually carry my touch in a shirt pocket. Didn't know if it popped out easy after some use, so I was just curious...
Thanks!

What earphones with microphone are best for under $50??
I can't afford anything over that - I've already spent too much money on two new iPod touches (4th gen) - and every review I read trashes Apple's earphones...
Thanks in advance!
