WTF? This is a computer, with a real mouse/trackpad. Click and hold til it wiggles, then click the x?
RIGHT-CLICK. COME ON APPLE, THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE.
Hi! How does it feel there in 1997? Tip for you: don't bet on the Cleveland Indians.
(And how do you know there's not a menu option for the same thing when right-clicking anyway?)

Perhaps square miles would be a more useful measure. ;)

I recall paying the same price for mine as the Mac Pro currently costs. Sheesh! Stupid me. I should've put that money into Apple stock! If I had put the $7k I blew on my Dual 800/22" into Apple shares I could afford a Ferrari right now :(
Being 14 and stupid FTW?
I wonder if I'll be in the same boat in 7 years :p (I just bought a Mac Pro with a 27" Cinema Display a few months back)

They are fine on my 07 8 cores Mac Pro. Even light encoding is fine...
I also have the terminal going with 6 tabs, each running folding on another machine. I worried about iTunes because I had heard that it took quite a bit of cpu, but not for me it doesn't seem to have any effect on folding.
interesting. well i might get a mac pro someday. my homebuilt machine is a big hassle and i'm not there to work on it. i would rather have a computer that i can fold and use regularly

the 27 imac is a beast!!!!!
God I wish I had the money to get it.
I called my 2007 C2D Extreme iMac "the hombre" when I first got it.
When the Ivy Bridge iMac is released I'll feel that it's time to get a new computer worthy of naming.

No Merom? :( Mac mini and Mac Pro drifting even further apart now. Although TS have been quite unreliable lately so I'm going to wait for AppleInsider's take on it.

Well that MBA didn't last too long. How come you're bailing on it?
I didn't even open the MBA to be honest. Bailing because it was $1500 haha. And I just couldn't bring myself to have a second computer that is that price with those specs. And I have a feeling in my bones that the resale value will suck on the first gen 11.6".

That no longer exists. Go to the mbp page and click the core duo icon, and I get a page not found.
This will probably change by the time anyone verifies it.

Don't worry - by the time your Golf dies you can get a new one, and maybe by then they'll be selling the Golf GTD (http://www.insideline.com/volkswagen/golf/2010/2010-volkswagen-golf-gtd-first-drive.html) over here.

wouldn't swapping a conroe chip in be an option? just go to Fry's and buy the chip then.
No, the Conroe and Merom are not, as they call it, pin-compatible. The Yonah and Merom are, by the way. So yeah, it makes sense for Apple to go with the Merom, but that doesn't mean I like it one bit.
EDIT: Sorry, roland.g, you beat me to it.

Maybe i am alone on this one....
I think the 24" iMac G5 is the beginning of the end of the G5 iMac.
You are alone on this one - the end of the G5 iMac has already happened, in fact it happened a long time ago when Apple introduced the first Intel iMacs. Hate to break it to ya, but G5 iMacs haven't been around for a long time, nor does a 24" G5 iMac even exist. :p
As for this new incarnation of the Intel iMac though, it totally depends on Apple's strategy. If they want to leave it as a desktop computer, yeah, it probably doesn't make sense to get much bigger. However, if they want to eventually incorporate a TV tuner and make it even more media-centric, and have it evolve into something else, then this may just be the beginning, not the end.

Not going to post the orders, because they were too much, but I paid:
$150 on Gap.com
$175 on American Eagle.Com
$100 on Sallys Beauty Supply.Com (what can I say, I am a metrosexual lol)
$300 on Eastbay.Com
$200 on Ebay, for some shades, and various other things
Aside from Sallys and Ebay, everything was clothes. The problem is, I have no room for them when they come. I have so many shoes, jeans, shirts, etc., I have to figure out what to do with them. Luckily they are split between winter and summer clothes, otherwised, Id really be f'd.

Intel officially introduced (http://www.itwire.com.au/content/view/7120/53/) its family of quad-core processors on Tuesday. The new processors include the Xeon 5300 (Clovertown) and Core 2 Extreme (Kentsfield) models.
The quad-core Xeon 5300 (Clowertown) represents a pin-compatible replacement for the current dual-core Xeon 5160 (Woodcrest) processors that currently reside in the Mac Pro. This possibility was previously demonstrated (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060913074907.shtml) by AnandTech when they successfully dropped Clovertown samples into the current Mac Pro. No benchmarks were available at that time, but CNet has now posted (http://reviews.cnet.com/4531-10921_7-6663792.html?tag=blog) benchmarks of this same configuration:

You don't like the idea that businesses can choose what they want to offer or not offer.
No, I fully support that.
I am simply disappointed that they pander to special interests. Just one of many reasons I voted with my wallet and bought a droid.

A Little OT but mini TV related: Someone here made a post I can't find that said the EyeTV hybrid HDTV tuner was only relevant to less than 5% of the market. So I did a little Google and found out we are already at 20% HD penetration in USA (http://www.screendigest.com/reports/06highdeftv/readmore/view.html). So I thought I'd just let you all know the Mac mini as an HDTV + Tivo with a 24" display can be set up for about $1300. With the cheapest Dual Link DVI 15" MBP you can find would drive a 30" display for a total of about $2900 soon.
I have a 2GHz Dual Core G5 that can support a 30" Display only paid $900 for. When Dell puts the 30" up on the 20% off block it will only cost $1900 - $380 = $1520. So we are looking at Mac TVs in the 24" - 30" size for as little as $1450 - $2500. That seems pretty amazing to me.
$599 Mac mini Core 2 Duo + EyeTV hybrid $150 + 24" Dell $700 (20% off Sale Price) = $1450 new.
Used any solo or dual G5 PM with a Dual Link Video Card + 30" Dell $1520 (20% off Sale Price) = $2500 or less.
